Chapter 7 - The Tactician

The next morning, the safehouse security monitors beeped urgently.
Mason had miraculously survived the restaurant shootout and arrived bearing an encrypted laptop.
“We lost three good men last night,” Mason reported, his voice heavy with grief.
“Moretti has barricaded himself in the penthouse of his high-rise casino downtown.”
“He thinks he won the battle, and he is preparing to strike the mansion next.”
Adrian stared at the digital map of the city flashing on the laptop screen.
“He has not won a single thing.”
“We are going to hit his casino tonight and end his entire miserable bloodline.”
Sophie stood by the kitchen island, sipping black coffee while wearing one of Adrian's oversized dress shirts.
She walked over and looked closely at the complex blueprints flashing on the screen.
“You cannot just walk in through the front doors,” she said logically.
“That specific casino uses state-of-the-art biometric scanners at every public and private entrance.”
“You will trigger a silent alarm before you even reach the lobby floor.”
Adrian and Mason both turned to look at her in stunned silence.
“How could you possibly know the security specs of a rival casino?” Mason asked, utterly bewildered.
“Before I was a maid, I told you I studied advanced logistics,” Sophie said calmly, adjusting her glasses.
“I actually wrote my final college thesis on modern casino security layouts and their inherent structural flaws.”
“Moretti uses the Vanguard Defense System, which is notoriously power-hungry.”
She pointed a delicate finger to a specific air vent located near the loading docks on the blueprint.
“The system requires a massive, dedicated cooling unit for the biometric servers.”
“If you flood the loading dock with a localized electromagnetic pulse, the cooling unit shuts down instantly.”
“The security system will reboot automatically, giving you a blind spot of exactly three minutes.”
“That is your only window to get into the private elevator without triggering an armed response.”
Mason stared at her in absolute awe, recognizing pure tactical genius when he saw it.
He looked at Adrian and nodded slowly.
“Boss, her math is flawless.”
Adrian smiled, a proud, fiercely protective smile that transformed his entire face.
“I told you she was brilliant,” Adrian said, looking at Sophie with undisguised adoration.
Sophie felt a massive flush of pride warm her chest.
She was no longer the quiet, invisible maid who took the blame for things she did not do.
She was the master strategist planning the definitive downfall of Chicago’s most dangerous cartel.

“Get the EMP devices ready, Mason,” Adrian ordered.
“Tonight, we finish this war using her plan.”
