Chapter 10 - The Queen of the Syndicate

One year later, the Falcone estate was unrecognizable from the cold, terrifying place it used to be.
The dark, heavy curtains had been pulled back, allowing bright, warm sunlight to flood the immaculate hallways.
I walked down the grand staircase, wearing a stunning white silk dress, no longer hiding in a maid's uniform.
In the center of the foyer, Gabriel stood waiting for me, looking incredibly handsome in a tailored black suit.
He was holding a healthy, chubby, one-year-old Mateo in his arms.
Mateo babbled happily, reaching his little hands out the moment he saw me walking toward them.
"Mama!" Mateo cheered, kicking his legs excitedly.
Tears of absolute joy pricked my eyes as I took him from Gabriel’s arms, kissing his soft, warm cheek.
I had lost a daughter to the darkness, but the universe had given me a son in the light.
Gabriel wrapped his strong arms around both of us, pulling his family tightly against his chest.
"The absolute terror of the underworld, completely subdued by a little boy and his beautiful mother," Dante joked as he walked past carrying a stack of files.
Gabriel just smiled, a genuine, rare expression that he saved entirely for us.
He kissed the top of Mateo’s head, and then leaned down to capture my lips in a deep, loving kiss.
"Are you ready for the board meeting, my Queen?" Gabriel asked, his eyes gleaming with pride.

"Let's go show them who really runs this city," I smiled, holding my son tightly against my heart.
The danger was gone, the debts were paid in blood, and I was exactly where I was always meant to be.
