Chapter 6 - THE ROAD TO RECOVERY

The transition was not perfectly easy or magically simple.
Clara had endured four years of severe psychological trauma and heavy sedation.
Julian hired the best private therapists and doctors in the country to help her heal in the comfort of their home.
She suffered from terrible night terrors, waking up screaming about the dark clinic.
Every time she woke up terrified, Julian was right there, holding her tightly until the panic passed.
He completely canceled all of his massive corporate meetings and stepped back from his CEO duties.
His only priority in the world was his wife and his deeply confused children.
The two little girls had to slowly understand that their beloved nanny was actually their real mother.
Julian showed them old photographs and home videos, bridging the gap in their fragile memories.
Slowly but surely, the gray uniform was thrown into the fireplace and burned to ashes.
Clara began wearing her old, beautiful clothes again, reclaiming her rightful place in the massive house.
Her natural blonde hair started to grow back, replacing the cheap brown dye she had used to hide.
The laughter that had been violently stolen from the hallways finally returned.
One sunny afternoon, Julian found Clara sitting in the beautiful rose garden behind the estate.
She was watching their daughters chase butterflies, a look of absolute peace on her face.
Julian wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, kissing her soft cheek.
“You look incredibly beautiful today, Mrs. Sterling,” he murmured into her ear.

Clara leaned back into his strong embrace, feeling completely safe for the first time in years.
“I feel incredibly lucky to be alive,” she replied.
