Chapter 10 - HAPPILY EVER AFTER

Years passed quickly, and the terrible shadows of the past finally faded into distant memories.
Clara completely reclaimed her position as the beloved matriarch of the Sterling family empire.
She used a massive portion of Julian’s wealth to open a charitable foundation for victims of trauma.
She spent her days helping other women find their voices and rebuild their shattered lives.
The two little girls grew up into incredibly strong, brilliant, and fiercely independent young women.
They completely forgot the terrifying days when their mother was just a weeping nanny in a gray uniform.
They only knew a house filled with endless love, loud laughter, and absolute safety.
One quiet winter evening, Julian and Clara sat together by the roaring fireplace in their master bedroom.
The snow was falling heavily outside the massive windows, covering the estate in a beautiful blanket of white.
Julian pulled Clara close to his chest, wrapping a warm, thick blanket around both of their shoulders.
“Do you ever think about how close we came to losing everything?” Julian asked quietly into the firelight.
Clara rested her head comfortably on his shoulder, watching the bright orange flames dance in the hearth.
“I don't think about the darkness anymore, Julian,” Clara replied with a soft, genuine smile.
“I only think about how incredibly lucky we are right now.”
Julian kissed the top of her head, feeling the steady, beautiful beat of her heart against his own.
