Chapter 6 - The Traitor Revealed

Two days passed in quiet isolation at the cliffside villa.
Lorenzo spent hours on an encrypted satellite phone, speaking in hushed, violent tones.
I spent my time cooking in the kitchen, watching Leo play in the enclosed garden.
It felt like a twisted, beautiful dream of a normal family life.
But reality shattered that illusion on the third morning.
Lorenzo walked into the kitchen, his face a mask of pure, unadulterated fury.
"I found the mole," he announced, slamming a printed satellite photo onto the granite counter.
I looked at the image and gasped.
It was a picture of Isabella Costa, standing on the docks we had escaped from.
She was handing a briefcase to Capo Marino.
"She orchestrated the attack," Lorenzo growled, his fists clenched tight.
"Isabella wants the Falcone fortune hidden in that wooden bear."
I pulled Leo’s toy from my apron pocket, tracing the carved edges.
"How did she know about it?" I asked.
"Because she was the one who ordered the hit on Matteo three years ago," Lorenzo revealed.
The kitchen spun, and I had to grip the counter to stop from falling.
Isabella wasn't just a spoiled, cruel heiress.
She was the monster who had murdered my husband and left my son fatherless.
A cold, unfamiliar rage ignited inside my chest.
"She slapped me," I whispered, the memory burning fresh in my mind.
"And now she wants to finish the job."
Lorenzo pulled a heavy assault rifle from a duffel bag on the floor.

"She won't live to see tomorrow, Clara."
"I am going back to Palermo."
