Chapter 6 - Safehouse

The estate was no longer safe. The Morettis had declared open war. Within hours, Gabriel had the inner circle, along with Claire, moved to an underground bunker beneath a warehouse in the industrial district.
"I can't stay here," Claire panicked, pacing the concrete floor. "Leo is at the hospital!"
"My men are with him. He is safer there than anywhere else," Sebastian assured her, sitting at a command table loaded with weapons and blueprints. "The Morettis don't know about you yet. If you leave this bunker, you risk exposing yourself."
"I am a physical therapist, not a mafia wife!" she yelled, losing her temper. "I don't belong in a bunker!"
The room went dead silent. The soldiers looked away, waiting for Sebastian to explode. Instead, Sebastian wheeled himself closer to her, his expression dangerously calm.
"You belong where I can keep you alive," Sebastian said smoothly. "Because if you die, I don't walk. And if I don't walk, this city burns. Now, get your bag, Miss Bennett. It's time for my therapy."

Claire glared at him, matching his fiery intensity. She didn't back down. "Fine. But I'm charging double for house calls in a bunker."
A genuine, startling laugh erupted from Sebastian's chest. He shook his head. "You are terrifying, Claire. Truly."
