Chapter 20 - The Queen of the UnderworldFive years later, the Russo estate was no longer just a fortress; it was a loud, chaotic home.

Clara sat on the patio, watching an eleven-year-old Julian teach his toddler sister how to kick a soccer ball.

The little girl had Dante’s dark hair and Clara’s warm, empathetic eyes.

Dante walked out through the French doors, carrying two cups of coffee.

He handed one to Clara and kissed the top of her head before sitting beside her.

He was still the undisputed king of the East Coast underworld.

His enemies still feared the very whisper of his name in the dark alleys of the city.

But here, on the sunlit patio, he was just a father and a completely devoted husband.

Clara rested her head on his broad shoulder, taking a sip of her coffee.

“Did you ever think a lost boy at a subway station would lead to all of this?” Dante asked quietly.

Clara looked at her beautiful, safe children playing on the grass.

She thought about the freezing rain, the terror, and the blood that had paved the way to this peace.

“I think the universe knew exactly what it was doing, Dante.”

“It knew you needed a nurse, and I needed a family.”

Dante smiled, a rare, genuine expression that belonged exclusively to her.

He wrapped his arm tightly around his wife, the true queen of his dark empire.
