Chapter 7 - The Breach“Boss,” Marcus said, his usually calm voice laced with urgent adrenaline.

“We have a severe problem.”
Julian turned instantly, his personal heartbreak seamlessly replaced by the cold, calculating demeanor of a cartel kingpin.
“Report,” Julian commanded.
“The ground floor lobby has just been breached by heavily armed men,” Marcus stated grimly.
“They bypassed the outer security grid, which means they had inside access codes.”
Julian’s eyes narrowed into dangerous slits.
“Elias,” Julian breathed, piecing the puzzle together instantly.
“He tracked her here,” Marcus confirmed.
“The divorce lawyers were a setup to lure her out of hiding and get her into a known location.”
Elise gasped, clutching her stomach as a fresh, sharper wave of pain rippled through her back.
“They used the legal meeting as a trap,” she whispered in horror.
“Secure the penthouse,” Julian ordered Marcus without hesitating.
“Deploy the heavy tactical teams to the stairwells and shut down the elevators.”
“No one gets past the fortieth floor alive.”
Marcus nodded sharply and sprinted back out into the corridor, screaming orders into his tactical radio.
Julian turned back to the doctor, who was looking distinctly pale.
“Aris, prepare whatever you need for an emergency delivery,” Julian instructed coldly.
“She is absolutely not going to a hospital now.”
Dr. Aris swallowed hard, nodding as he began rapidly opening sterile surgical kits and laying out instruments.
Julian walked over to a heavy steel cabinet built into the medical room's wall.
He pressed his palm against a hidden scanner, and the cabinet clicked open to reveal a massive, fully stocked weapons cache.
He pulled out a customized assault rifle and slapped a high-capacity magazine into place with a deadly, metallic clack.
Elise watched him, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird.
“Julian,” she called out, her voice shaking with fear.
He turned to her, his eyes burning with a fierce, possessive fire.

“No one is touching you, Elise,” he swore, racking the slide of the rifle.
“I will burn Chicago to the ground before I let anyone hurt my family.”
