Explaining a lifetime of lies to a stranger who shares your blood is not easy.

We sat in a quiet Swiss cafe for hours.

I showed her the photographs from our childhood, the FBI reports, and the fake death certificate.

At first, Nora was in deep denial, crying silently into her coffee.

But when she saw a picture of our mother, a forgotten memory seemed to click into place behind her eyes.

"I remember the yellow dress," Nora whispered, tracing a photo of herself at age three.

"I always thought it was a dream."

We didn't instantly become best friends.

The trauma of what our parents did left deep scars on both of us.

But she agreed to fly to America for my wedding to Marcus the following spring.

When the day finally arrived, I looked out at the guests gathered in the garden.

Vanessa was locked away in a concrete cell.

But in the front row, holding my beautiful daughter Lily in her lap, sat my sister Nora.

They were laughing together, surrounded by the bright pink and yellow flowers we had chosen for the ceremony.
