Chapter 2 - The Corporate Cleanout

The next morning, Ryan made his second catastrophic mistake.
Assuming this was all just a hormonal overreaction on my part, he tried to go to work.
He drove his leased luxury sedan—which was technically owned by my father's corporation—to the downtown headquarters.
According to my father, who called me from his corner office, Ryan strode into the lobby with a confident smirk.
He scanned his executive badge at the turnstile, expecting the glass gates to open.
Instead, a harsh red light flashed, and a loud buzzer echoed through the quiet lobby.
Ryan tried again, cursing under his breath.
The head of corporate security stepped out from behind the reception desk.
"Mr. Davis, your employment has been terminated effective immediately," the security chief announced in front of dozens of arriving employees.
Ryan froze, his face turning completely pale as the reality of the situation began to set in.
"You can't do this!" Ryan shouted, causing heads to turn across the lobby.
"I am a managing partner, I own half of this division!"
My father stepped out of the private elevator, his face an expressionless mask of cold authority.
"You own nothing, Ryan," my father said, his voice echoing in the sudden silence.
"Your title was a courtesy, your salary was a gift, and your presence here is now considered trespassing."
My father handed Ryan a small cardboard box containing a few personal items from his desk.
"The car keys, please," my father demanded, extending his hand.

Ryan trembled with humiliation as he reached into his pocket and handed over the keys to the Porsche.
He was escorted out the front doors and left standing on the sidewalk with a small cardboard box, forced to call a cab.
