Chapter 4 - The Preparation

We spent the next forty-eight hours moving like ghosts through the criminal underworld.

Using the millions on the titanium card, Marcus secured untraceable passports and private transport.

He purchased military-grade tactical gear, satellite phones, and enough weaponry to start a small war.

I cut off my long hair, dyed it pitch black, and traded my suburban clothes for tactical black gear.

Every time I looked in the mirror, I didn't recognize the woman staring back at me.

She wasn't a heartbroken housewife anymore; she was a predator preparing to strike.

Leo’s messages kept coming sporadically, giving us crucial details about Julian's movements.

Julian had locked Leo inside a sprawling, heavily fortified chateau in the Swiss Alps.

"Dad is panicking. He knows the accounts are drained," Leo texted.

"He has doubled the guards. Please be careful, Mom."

I replied for the first time, my fingers flying across the burner phone screen.

"Hold on, my brave boy. I am coming for you."

We boarded a private jet Marcus had chartered under a shell corporation, flying silently into the European night.

I didn't sleep a single wink during the flight, my mind playing out every possible horrific scenario.

I was about to storm a fortress guarded by trained killers, and I had absolutely no military training.

But I had something much more dangerous than training.

I had a mother's rage.
