Chapter 7 - The Siege of Queens

"Lorenzo!" Matteo's voice boomed through the megaphone, cutting through the rain.
"Send the maid and the kid out, and you walk away alive!"
Lorenzo stared through the broken blinds, a chilling calm washing over him.
He handed Mia back to Sophia.
"Take them to the basement," Lorenzo instructed Maria.
"There is no way out of the basement," Sophia panicked.
"You won't need one," Lorenzo replied coldly.
"No one is coming down those stairs."
He turned to Vincenzo, who was already loading fresh magazines into his rifles.
"How many men do you count?" Lorenzo asked.
"Looks like twenty, Boss," Vincenzo replied with a grim smile.
"Good," Lorenzo said, racking the slide of his own weapon.
"That makes it a fair fight."
Outside, Matteo lost his patience.
"Fire!" Matteo ordered.
The front of the brick house exploded into a cloud of dust and debris.
Bullets tore through the plaster walls, shredding the furniture into kindling.
Lorenzo and Vincenzo took cover behind a reinforced structural pillar.
They returned fire with lethal precision.
Every time Lorenzo pulled the trigger, a traitor fell in the street.
He wasn't fighting for territory or money anymore.
He was a father protecting his blood.
The attackers tried to storm the front porch, but Vincenzo laid down a wall of suppressing fire.
"We can't hold them forever, Boss!" Vincenzo shouted over the deafening noise.
"We are running out of ammo!"
Lorenzo checked his magazine; he had four bullets left.
He looked toward the basement door, knowing his daughter was trembling in the dark below.

"I won't lose her again," Lorenzo vowed, his voice a low growl.
Suddenly, the roaring sound of motorcycle engines flooded the street.
