Chapter 9 - The Charity Gala

Three months later, the annual Atlanta Children’s Hospital Gala arrived with its usual immense fanfare.

It was the most exclusive, highly publicized event of the season, swarming with wealthy donors and eager paparazzi.

Eleanor Vance, despite her recent legal humiliations, stood near the entrance in a desperate attempt to maintain her fading social dominance.

She was waiting specifically to see if the disgraced, former CEO Julian Sterling would dare to show his face in public.

The heavy mahogany doors slowly opened, and the grand ballroom fell into a completely stunned, breathless silence.

Julian stepped inside the room, wearing a classic, impeccably tailored black tuxedo.

On his arm was not a famous supermodel, nor a wealthy, cold-hearted heiress.

It was Nora.

She wore a simple, breathtaking emerald green silk gown that perfectly brought out the stunning color of her eyes.

She looked incredibly nervous under the flashing cameras, but Julian held her hand tightly, grounding her completely.

Eleanor’s face contorted with pure, unadulterated rage as the photographers completely ignored her to swarm the new couple.

Julian expertly navigated through the sea of reporters, leading Nora directly to the VIP center table.

When it was finally time for the evening's speeches, Julian walked up to the podium and announced a massive, record-breaking donation to the pediatric wing.

“I do not make this donation as a corporate executive, but as a deeply grateful father,” Julian said directly into the microphone.

He looked down from the stage, locking eyes with Nora, who was blushing beautifully.

“I donate this in honor of the incredible woman who brought the light back into my family’s darkest hour.”

The entire ballroom erupted in a deafening, standing ovation.

Eleanor Vance quietly slipped out the side exit, utterly defeated and completely erased from their lives forever.
