Chapter 8 - Eleanor’s Final Strike

Two weeks later, Julian’s newfound peace was violently shattered by a loud knock on the front door.
Julian opened it to find a stern-looking woman holding a clipboard, flanked by two uniformed police officers.
“Julian Sterling?” the woman asked coldly.
“I am an investigator with Child Protective Services.”
Julian felt the blood drain entirely from his face.
“We received an anonymous, highly detailed tip regarding the neglect and emotional endangerment of your twin daughters,” the investigator stated.
Julian knew instantly, with sickening certainty, exactly who had made that phone call.
Eleanor Vance had realized that ruining his corporate reputation wasn't enough; she wanted to take his children away.
Nora walked out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel, and froze in sheer terror at the sight of the police.
“You have exactly one minute to get off my property before I call my legal team,” Julian snarled, his protective instincts flaring into absolute rage.
“Sir, we have a mandate to speak with the children and the hired help,” the officer warned, stepping forward.
Julian did not flinch, planting his feet firmly in the doorway like a stone wall.
“My daughters are perfectly safe, and this woman is not just hired help,” Julian declared, his voice echoing with fierce authority.
“She is the heart of this family.”
He pulled his phone from his pocket and immediately dialed the most ruthless family attorney in Atlanta.
Within three hours, the baseless investigation was entirely shut down by a judge's swift order.
Julian did not stop there; he authorized his legal team to file a massive defamation and harassment lawsuit against Eleanor Vance.
