Chapter 6 - The Traitor Revealed

"Put the gun down, Marco," Vincent said quietly, not moving an inch from his cover.

He did not need to turn around to know the absolute betrayal happening behind him.

Marco’s hands shook slightly, but he kept his weapon aimed at his boss.

"I am sorry, Vincent, but you brought this on yourself," Marco argued defensively.

"You are risking our entire empire, our lives, over a worthless maid and her brat!"

Vincent slowly stood up, turning to face the man he had trusted for over twenty years.

"They are not worthless," Vincent replied, his voice deadly calm.

"They are under my protection, and a Torino never breaks his word."

"Don Carlo offered me half the city if I unlock the panic room for him," Marco confessed greedily.

"I cannot let you destroy everything we built because you suddenly grew a conscience."

Outside, the gunfire began to die down as Vincent’s men successfully pushed back the initial assault.

But inside, the real danger was standing just ten feet away.

"You think Don Carlo will honor a deal with a traitor?" Vincent asked, taking a slow step forward.

"He will use you to kill me, and then he will put a bullet in your head."

Marco hesitated, the terrible truth of Vincent’s words sinking into his mind.

In that split second of doubt, Vincent moved with explosive speed.

He closed the distance, swiping his arm upward to knock Marco’s gun toward the ceiling.

The weapon fired, burying a bullet deep into the expensive plaster above.

Vincent delivered a devastating punch to Marco’s jaw, sending the traitor crashing into a glass display case.

Marco groaned, trying to reach for his dropped weapon, but Vincent kicked it far across the floor.

Vincent aimed his own gun directly at Marco’s forehead, his finger resting lightly on the trigger.

"Thirty years of loyalty, Marco, erased in a single night of cowardice," Vincent said coldly.

"Don't do it, Boss, please," Marco begged, holding his hands up in pure terror.

"Take him to the holding cells," Vincent ordered two guards who had just rushed into the room.

"I will deal with him when this night is finally over."

Vincent took a deep breath, looking around at the destruction of his beautiful home.

He needed to end this war tonight, permanently, before Don Carlo sent another wave of killers.

He reloaded his weapon, grabbed a spare magazine, and marched out the front door into the violent night.

He was going to cut the head off the snake.
