Chapter 15 - The Grand Opening

The sun was shining brightly over the city as I stood on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant.
Julian walked up beside me, wiping his hands on his pristine white chef's apron.
A massive crowd had gathered, waiting patiently for the doors to officially open.
A local news crew was setting up their cameras, eager to cover the massive success story of the year.
I reached up and touched the brand new, hand-painted wooden sign hanging above the door.
It no longer read 'Bennett's Bistro.'
I had legally changed the name to 'The Legacy,' a permanent tribute to the man who started it all.
"Are you ready for this, boss?" Julian asked, smiling broadly.
I looked at the faint, silvery scar running down my neck, entirely visible and completely unhidden.
It was a badge of absolute honor, a physical reminder of the fire I had walked through to get here.
"I have never been more ready in my entire life," I answered confidently.
I pulled a pair of golden scissors from my pocket and cut the bright red ribbon across the front doors.
The crowd erupted into massive cheers and applause, flooding into the warm, beautiful dining room.
The sound of clinking glasses, roaring laughter, and sizzling food filled the air perfectly.
I stood by the host stand, watching my father's dream thrive brighter than it ever had before.
They had tried to break me, erase me, and steal everything I had ever loved.
