'Mrs. Sterling,' Judge Sterling began, his voice cutting through the tension like a razor.
'You petitioned this court claiming financial abuse and mental instability on the part of your son.'
'Instead, this court has been presented with clear, undeniable video evidence of domestic abandonment of a sick child, paired with certified forensic audits detailing your own multi-million-dollar corporate fraud.'
Evelyn shrank back into her wooden bench seat, her hands trembling as she realized her elaborate legal trap had completely backfired.
'This emergency injunction is denied with prejudice,' Judge Sterling declared, slamming his heavy wooden gavel down onto the block.
'Furthermore, I am ordering an immediate referral of these financial records to the federal tax division for formal investigation.'
'This court is adjourned.'
