Chapter 9 - The Nanny Cam Premiere

"There is no check, Eleanor," I said, my voice echoing in the quiet room. "There is no settlement. We aren't here to negotiate."
Eleanor’s smug facade cracked, replaced by venomous rage. "You lied to me? You pathetic little boy! You think you can outsmart me? I will destroy you in court! I am a victim of elder abuse! You assaulted me!"
"Aunt Martha," I said, turning to the woman who had slandered my name across the internet. "You came here to make sure I treated my mother fairly, right? You want the truth about what happened that afternoon?"
Without waiting for an answer, I grabbed the remote control from the center of the table and pointed it at the massive flat-screen television mounted on the wall. I pressed play.
The high-definition video flared to life. The audio was perfect. “Press deeper,” Eleanor's voice barked from the speakers. “You're leeching off my son's success. The absolute least you could offer is some basic servitude.”
Martha gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. Greg stared at the screen, utterly paralyzed.
Then came the moment. The brutal, unmistakable kick to Sarah's pregnant stomach. Sarah's cry of pain echoed through the conference room, followed immediately by my entrance and my physical removal of Eleanor from the space.
The video ended, leaving a suffocating silence in its wake.
Eleanor was shaking, her face flushed a deep, mottled crimson. "That... that's doctored! That’s fake! You set me up!"
Aunt Martha stood up, her chair scraping violently against the floor. She looked at Eleanor with absolute disgust. "You kicked a pregnant woman? You kicked your own unborn grandchild? You told us David attacked you unprovoked!"
"He did! He pushed me!" Eleanor shrieked, desperately grasping at straws.
"After you assaulted his wife, you psycho!" Greg yelled, finally realizing the sinking ship he was chained to. "You told me he just went crazy! You used me to hide his money!"
"I am your mother!" Eleanor screamed at Greg. "I did this for us!"

"You did it for yourself," I said, standing up. "You are a parasite, Eleanor. And your time is up."
I turned to Detective Reynolds, who was already pulling a pair of metal handcuffs from his belt.
