Chapter 15 - The Viral Truth

Before the criminal justice system could grind through its gears, I knew we had to execute one final, decisive strike in the court of public opinion. For weeks, my mother’s flying monkeys—the aunts, cousins, and country club acquaintances—had been quietly whispering behind our backs, painting Sarah as a hysterical, ungrateful daughter-in-law who had driven a wedge between a loving mother and her son. It was time to burn their false righteousness to the ground.
With the legal approval of Victoria Vance and the District Attorney’s office—who confirmed that releasing evidence already entered into the public legal record did not violate any gag orders—I sat down at my computer on Sunday evening and drafted a comprehensive, unvarnished public statement.
I uploaded a fifteen-minute video montage directly to my Facebook and LinkedIn profiles, tagging every single family member, mutual friend, and local community group that had participated in my mother’s smear campaign.
The video began with my mother’s initial Facebook post claiming she was a "heartbroken, selfless grandmother." Then, the screen faded to black, replaced by the chilling audio of her deposition confession: ‘I was just trying to correct his mistake! I have the right to choose who raises my grandchildren!’
Next came the raw nanny cam footage of her dragging an exhausted Sarah out of bed, dumping the screaming baby onto her, and calmly eating beef stew while my wife lay unconscious on the floor. The montage ended with screenshots of the toxic text messages where my mother admitted to systematically poisoning Sarah’s tea with sedatives to simulate postpartum depression.
My accompanying text was brief and lethal:
“To everyone who sent my wife harassing messages, to every family member who called her crazy, and to every country club friend who offered my mother sympathy: This is the monster you supported. Eleanor Vance did not love her family; she attempted to destroy it through systematic psychological abuse, drugging, and felony identity theft. She is currently facing multiple felony indictments by the District Attorney’s office. Anyone who attempts to defend her actions, contact my household, or speak my wife’s name in vain will be immediately named as a co-defendant in our ongoing civil defamation lawsuits. We are building a life of peace, and we will defend it with absolute zero tolerance.”
I hit post.

Within one hour, the notification bell on my phone went completely berserk. The algorithm caught fire. The post was shared over two thousand times within the first evening, spreading beyond our family circle into local news forums and parenting networks.
The public backlash against my mother was swift and merciless. Aunt Beatrice left a weeping, hysterical voicemail begging for forgiveness, claiming she "had no idea Eleanor was capable of such evil"—I deleted it without listening to the end. My mother’s country club membership was formally revoked by the board of directors within twenty-four hours due to "morality clause violations." The extended family members who had been so vocal in their condemnation of Sarah suddenly vanished into absolute digital silence, deleting their comments and deactivating their accounts in absolute humiliation.
