Chapter 7 - The Resurrection

The silence in the boardroom was absolute and deafening.
Luca stood at his full height of six-foot-two, his broad shoulders squared, his presence dominating the entire room.
His legs trembled slightly under the immense strain, but his posture was terrifyingly straight.
He did not look like a man who had been poisoned; he looked like a god of vengeance.
Silvio took a step back, his face draining of all blood, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"No," Silvio stammered, his voice cracking.
"That's impossible."
"The neurotoxin was permanent."
"Science is a fascinating thing, Silvio," Luca said smoothly, taking a slow, deliberate step forward.
"But it is nothing compared to the power of a man who finally has a reason to fight."
He took another step, his customized boots clicking heavily against the marble floor.
The syndicate captains immediately stood up from their chairs, drawing their weapons and aiming them directly at Silvio and his men.
Loyalty in the underworld was a fickle thing, but power was undeniable.
Luca had just proven he was the most powerful man in the room.
"You destroyed twelve years of my life," Luca growled, closing the distance between them.
"You stole my youth, you stole my health, and you tried to murder my daughter."
Silvio panicked, reaching frantically for the pistol holstered inside his jacket.
Before his fingers could even brush the grip, Tommy Reyes stepped out from behind a guard.
The brave boy kicked a heavy metal trash can directly into Silvio’s shins.
Silvio stumbled forward, distracted for a fraction of a second.
That was all Luca needed.
Luca reached out with terrifying speed, grabbing Silvio by the throat with one massive hand.
He lifted the traitor completely off his feet, his immense upper body strength compensating for his recovering legs.
Silvio choked and kicked, his face turning a deep, violent shade of purple.
"You are done," Luca whispered, his voice as cold as a winter grave.
Luca threw Silvio brutally against the mahogany table, shattering the polished wood.
Silvio crumpled to the floor, gasping for air, completely defeated.
Luca looked around the room at the stunned, terrified captains.

"The Costello family is whole again," Luca announced with absolute finality.
"Clean up this garbage, and tell the city the King is walking."
