Chapter 9 - The Legacy

With the trials over and the threats neutralized, the quiet finally returned.
I stood in the nursery of our secure penthouse, watching Leo and Chloe sleep. They were six months old now. They were healthy, happy, and completely unaware of the war that had been fought to secure their safety.
Arthur stopped by that evening to deliver the final corporate filings.
“You are now officially the controlling chairperson of the board,” Arthur said, raising a glass of scotch. “The stock has stabilized. The bad actors are gone. Julian would be incredibly proud of you.”
“I didn't do it alone,” I said, clinking my glass against his. “Thank you, Arthur. For believing me. For fighting for us.”

“Julian saved my life a long time ago,” Arthur smiled. “This was just repaying the debt. But make no mistake, you are the one who held the line. You are the one who walked into that boardroom and took back your life.”
I looked out the massive windows at the city skyline. Julian had built an empire, but he had also built a fortress for his family. And I had learned how to defend it.
