Chapter 5 - No Bail for Monsters

The courtroom was packed to absolute maximum capacity.

Dozens of reporters had managed to sneak their way into the public gallery.

Beatrice and Victoria were led into the room wearing heavy steel shackles on their wrists and ankles.

The judge, a stern woman with zero tolerance for wealthy entitlement, slammed her gavel down aggressively.

"The charges are attempted first-degree murder and felony child endangerment," the judge announced loudly.

The defense attorney immediately stood up, adjusting his glasses.

"Your Honor, my clients have deep ties to the community and pose absolutely no flight risk."

A collective scoff echoed through the crowded gallery.

The prosecuting attorney stood up and pressed a button on his remote.

The massive screen in the courtroom instantly played the horrific video of Leo dangling over the roaring flames.

Gasps of horror filled the room, even from people who had already seen it a dozen times.

"These women are incredibly wealthy, heavily resourced, and completely merciless," the prosecutor argued passionately.

The judge did not even hesitate for a single second.

"Due to the egregious nature of the crime and the overwhelming video evidence, bail is unequivocally denied."

Victoria actually shrieked out loud, violently pulling against her restraining chains.

"You can't do this to me, I am a Thorne!" she screamed at the judge.

Beatrice simply fainted, collapsing into a heap on the polished hardwood floor.
