Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Five years had peacefully passed since the horrific night of the bonfire incident.

The terrifying legacy of the Thorne family had been completely erased from polite society.

Harrison Thorne died in a federal prison cell, entirely alone and completely bankrupt.

Victoria and Beatrice were just nameless numbers in a harsh, violent maximum-security facility.

Clara stood on the beautiful, sun-drenched wooden porch of her new coastal farmhouse.

She watched with absolute joy as a lively five-year-old Leo chased a golden retriever puppy across the green lawn.

Arthur, whose arms still bore the faded, heroic scars of that terrible night, was laughing loudly as he pushed Leo on a tire swing.

Clara had used her share of a legitimate, hidden trust fund to build a quiet, peaceful life far away from the toxic city.

She had opened a small, successful bakery in the local coastal town, completely shedding the burden of her previous family name.

Arthur walked up the porch steps, wiping sweat from his wrinkled brow, and smiled warmly at his brave daughter.

"The blueberry pies are burning in the oven, Clara," Arthur teased gently.

Clara laughed brightly, a beautiful sound completely free of any fear or anxiety.
