Chapter 8 - The Sabotage

The Maroni family grew desperate after their assassins vanished.
They knew Julian would strike back, so they decided to launch a massive assault on his estate.
It was past midnight when the lights in Julian’s mansion suddenly went completely dead.
The backup generators failed to engage, plunging the compound into pitch darkness.
“They cut the main grid lines,” Elias shouted, handing Julian a loaded rifle.
Dozens of armed men were breaching the outer perimeter gates.
Clara ran into the command center, fully dressed in her old utility gear.
“I know this system,” Clara yelled over the chaos.
“The Maronis use standard municipal override jammers, I used to fix them.”
She sprinted toward the basement utility bunker, with Julian closely guarding her back.
Gunfire echoed above them as Julian’s men engaged the intruders.
Clara ripped open the main electrical panel, her hands moving with lightning speed.
She bypassed the jammed relays and re-routed the high-voltage lines directly to the perimeter fence.
“Tell your men to step back from the gates!” Clara screamed to Julian.
Julian relayed the order through his radio instantly.
Clara slammed the heavy copper switch upward.
A massive surge of electricity hit the outer fences, lighting up the night sky with blue sparks.
The Maroni attackers screamed as they were thrown back by the lethal shock.
At the same time, the estate’s floodlights blazed back to life, blinding the remaining intruders.

Julian’s guards easily rounded up the disoriented and terrified attackers.
Clara leaned against the concrete wall, panting heavily as the battle ended.
