Chapter 5 - The Hospital Visit

Three days later, Clara walked through the sterile halls of Kingsford Memorial Hospital.

She wore a brand new, tailored suit paid for by her massive signing bonus.

Lily walked happily beside her, clutching a hand-drawn get-well card.

They reached the penthouse VIP suite, guarded by two massive men in suits.

The guards immediately stepped aside, opening the heavy oak doors for them.

Eleanor Sterling sat propped up in a lavish hospital bed, looking frail but alert.

When she saw Clara, a bright smile spread across her wrinkled face.

“My beautiful guardian angel,” Eleanor rasped, reaching out her uninjured hand.

Clara walked over and gently took the old woman's hand.

“I am so glad you are recovering, Mrs Sterling,” Clara smiled warmly.

Lily peeked out from behind her mother’s leg, holding up the colorful drawing.

“I made this for you,” Lily said shyly.

Eleanor’s eyes watered as she took the picture of a badly drawn superhero in an orange vest.

“It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen,” Eleanor whispered.

Julian stepped out of the shadows in the corner of the room.

He watched the three of them interact, feeling a strange warmth in his chest.

His life was usually filled with violence, betrayal, and cold calculations.

But seeing Clara and Lily in this room brought a light he hadn't known he needed.

However, the peaceful moment was broken when Elias rushed into the room.

Elias whispered something urgent into Julian’s ear, making his jaw clench tightly.

“What is wrong?” Clara asked, noticing the sudden shift in the room's energy.

“The crash was not an accident,” Julian growled, his eyes turning lethal.
