Chapter 7 - The Media Storm

The leak of the video was inevitable, though the police swore it didn't come from them.

Somebody in the courthouse had sold a copy of the footage to a major news network.

Overnight, the story of the billionaire grandfather trying to drown his heir went globally viral.

My face and Liam’s face were blurred, but Richard and Chloe were completely exposed to the world.

The internet did what it does best and absolutely destroyed them.

Every single corporate sponsor pulled out of Richard’s companies within forty-eight hours.

His board of directors held an emergency meeting and voted to remove him as CEO, stripping his shares.

Chloe’s former friends, the bridesmaids who had been at the party, all gave exclusive interviews denouncing her.

Even Mark, the ex-fiancé, went on a morning talk show to talk about how he narrowly escaped marrying a monster.

I kept the TV off in our house, protecting Liam from the relentless media circus.

We spent our days building Lego sets, reading comic books, and taking long walks in the park.

He was starting to smile again, the shadows under his eyes finally fading away.

I had secured full control of the trust fund, moving us out of the city and into a heavily guarded, beautiful neighborhood.

Richard’s empire was burning to ash in the public eye, and I didn't feel a shred of pity.

He had valued money and status over his own family's lives.

Now, he had absolutely nothing left.
