Chapter 7 - Digging Up the Dirt

Finding Chloe was easy. Victor’s frozen accounts meant she was rapidly running out of money. We found her in a cheap motel on the edge of town, looking furious and very pregnant.

I walked into her room, flanked by Marcus. She sneered at me. “Come to gloat, billionaire?”

“I came to offer you a deal,” I said, sitting on the edge of a plastic chair. “Victor is going to prison for tax evasion and fraud. He’s using Julian’s money to fight me, but once that dries up, he’ll abandon you just like he abandoned me. You have nothing.”

Chloe crossed her arms, but I saw the fear in her eyes. “What do you want?”

“I want you to testify. I want you to hand over every text message, every email, and every voice note where Victor admits to hiding money, planning to steal my baby for child support, and conspiring with Julian.”

“And what do I get?” she demanded.

“A trust fund for your child,” I said flatly. “Victor’s blood is in that baby. I won’t let a child suffer for their father's sins, like I did. You testify, and your child is financially secure for life. You refuse, and you can raise that baby on food stamps while Victor rots in a cell.”

Chloe didn't hesitate. She handed over her unlocked phone.

Meanwhile, Victoria’s forensic accountants had cracked Julian’s shell companies. We found the paper trail. Julian had been embezzling from Thorne Industries for years to fund his lavish lifestyle, and now, to fund Victor.

We had the smoking gun. Now, it was time for the execution.
