Chapter 10 - The Bride's Deception

The morning of the wedding was crisp and clear. The cathedral, a massive gothic structure in the heart of the city, was adorned with thousands of white roses.
In the bridal suite at the back of the church, Elena Costa was a vision in white silk and imported lace. Her bridesmaids fussed over her train, pouring mimosas and giggling about the extravagant honeymoon planned in the Maldives.
Clara stood quietly in the corner, holding a sewing kit, playing the role of the subservient maid one last time.
Elena waved her friends away, demanding a moment of privacy. Once the heavy wooden doors clicked shut, Elena’s sweet facade dropped instantly. She turned to Clara, her eyes flashing with pure malice.
"I don't know how you survived the other night," Elena said, her voice dripping with venom. "But do not think for a second you have won. Enjoy the ceremony, Clara. Because when I walk back down that aisle as a widow, you are the first person I am having executed."
Clara didn't flinch. She simply looked at the woman who had sold her soul for power, feeling nothing but pity.
"You look beautiful, Miss Elena," Clara said calmly, stepping forward to adjust the veil. "I am sure Mr. Rossi will give you exactly the wedding you deserve."
Elena scoffed, turning back to the mirror to adjust her diamond tiara. "He is a fool. A predictable, arrogant fool."

Clara backed out of the room, her heart pounding with adrenaline. She walked down the stone corridor, passing three caterers who were carrying trays of champagne. Clara noticed the heavy bulges beneath their white jackets. The Falcone hitmen were in position.
The bell tower began to chime. It was time.
