Chapter 3 - The Billionaire's Contract

Three days later, Chloe’s mother was recovering beautifully in a luxurious private VIP suite.
Chloe sat across from Julian in his sprawling glass-walled penthouse overlooking the city skyline.
A heavy, leather-bound folder rested on the mahogany coffee table between them.
"My family and my board of directors are demanding that I settle down and fix my ruthless public image," Julian explained, pouring two glasses of scotch.
"I need a fiancée, someone pure, completely unconnected to my world, and fiercely loyal."
Chloe stared at him in absolute shock.
"You want me to pretend to be your future wife?" she asked, her voice squeaking.
"For one year," Julian confirmed, sliding the contract toward her.
"In exchange, your mother will receive the finest medical care in the world for the rest of her life."
He also promised to heavily fund the downtown pediatric clinic where she worked.
It was an offer she could not possibly refuse.
Chloe picked up the solid gold pen, her hand shaking slightly as she signed her name on the dotted line.
The moment the ink dried, Julian’s intense gaze shifted from the paper to her lips.
"Understand this, Chloe," he warned, his voice a low, dangerous rumble.

"In public, you are mine, and I do not tolerate betrayal."
She swallowed hard, nodding slowly, completely unaware of the dangerous game she had just entered.
