Chapter 8 - The Confrontation

The heavy glass doors of the greenhouse opened, and my father walked in, surrounded by six armed men.

The jovial, loving mask he wore at the gala was completely gone, replaced by a cold, murderous glare.

He looked at Sofía, showing absolutely no surprise or emotion at seeing his supposedly dead daughter alive.

"You always were too smart for your own good, Sofía," he sneered, his voice dripping with absolute venom.

"I gave you a chance to disappear and live quietly, but you just couldn't let it go."

He raised a hand, and the armed guards aimed their weapons directly at Arthur's chest.

"Give me the backpack, and I will let your sister live," my father demanded, stepping forward.

I stepped in front of Sofía, acting purely on a surge of adrenaline and profound rage.

"You are a monster," I screamed at him, my voice echoing off the glass walls.

My father simply laughed, a dry, hollow sound that chilled me to my very core.

"I am a survivor, and I built an empire that you have happily enjoyed your entire life," he shot back.

Just as he ordered his men to take the bag by force, a massive explosion shattered the calm night air outside.

The glass roof above us completely shattered, raining sharp, glittering shards down upon all of us.

In the chaos, Arthur lunged forward, tackling the closest guard and wrestling the weapon from his hands.

The final battle for our family's soul had officially begun.
