Chapter 7 - The Final Evidence

The heavy vault door groaned loudly as Arthur used all his strength to pull it open.
Inside, the room was lined with safe deposit boxes, stacks of foreign currency, and velvet trays of diamonds.
But Sofía ignored all the unimaginable wealth, walking straight to a small, unassuming black lockbox in the center of the room.
She opened it to reveal a stack of encrypted hard drives and a thick, leather-bound ledger.
"This is it," she breathed, tears finally spilling over her eyelashes. "This is everything."
These pages contained the names, the dates, and the offshore accounts that linked our father to decades of organized crime.
Suddenly, the harsh blare of an alarm siren ripped through the underground complex.
Red strobe lights began flashing, painting the vault in a sinister, bloody hue.
"They found the guards," Arthur yelled over the deafening noise. "We have to move, now!"
Sofía shoved the drives and the ledger into a heavy canvas backpack and strapped it tightly to her chest.
We ran back toward the tunnels, but the sound of heavy boots echoing down the hallway told us we were cut off.
We had no choice but to head up the spiral staircase that led directly into the glass greenhouse.
We burst through the doors into the humid, plant-filled structure, completely exposed to the night sky.

Security spotlights immediately swung toward us, blinding me with their intense white beams.
We were surrounded, trapped in a cage of glass.
