Chapter 6 - The Paris Strategy

Elena sat on the balcony of her suite at the Ritz Paris, sipping a perfectly chilled glass of Sancerre. The Eiffel Tower sparkled in the distance, but Elena’s mind was sharp and focused.
She wasn't just on vacation; she was working.
Her laptop was open, displaying a video call with her attorney, a ruthless litigator named Veronica Glass.
“He’s desperate, Elena,” Veronica said, taking off her reading glasses. “Marcus’s lawyer reached out this morning. They want to settle quickly. He’s begging for a portion of the equity in your tech firm, claiming he supported you during the startup phase.”
Elena laughed, a crisp, melodic sound that carried over the Parisian night air. “Supported me? He used my early dividends to buy his Porsche. What is our counter-offer?”
“We hit him with the fraud evidence,” Veronica smiled sharply. “Since he used joint accounts to fund his affair and committed corporate theft, we argue that he breached his fiduciary duty to the marriage. We offer him nothing. In fact, we demand he take on the remaining debt from his personal credit cards.”
“And if he refuses?”

“We take it to trial and let the judge see the expense reports. He won’t risk the public humiliation. His reputation is all he has left,” Veronica stated.
“Execute the counter-offer, Veronica,” Elena said, taking another sip of wine. “I don't just want a divorce. I want him to remember the cost of my time.”
