Chapter 6 - The Desperate Ambush

When Mark realized I had cut off his mistress, he completely lost his mind.

He couldn't afford his lawyers, he couldn't afford his groceries, and now his secret family was collapsing.

On Thursday morning, I was stepping out of the elevator at my corporate office when I heard a commotion in the lobby.

Mark was screaming at my security guards, trying to force his way through the turnstiles.

He looked disheveled, wearing the same clothes he had on two days ago, his eyes wild with panic.

"Sarah! You have to talk to me!" he bellowed as soon as he saw me.

My head of security, a towering ex-marine named David, immediately stepped between us.

"Do you want me to call the police, ma'am?" David asked, his hand resting near his radio.

"No, David. Let him speak. I want to hear this," I said calmly.

Mark pushed against the turnstile, his face red with rage and humiliation.

"Chloe left me! She took the baby and went back to her parents because of you!" he yelled.

"Because of me?" I laughed, the sound echoing in the massive marble lobby.

"You used my son's daycare money to fund your secret life, Mark."

"I am the father of your child! You can't just throw me out on the street!" he pleaded, his anger suddenly turning into pathetic begging.

"You threw your own son out into the freezing cold so you could eat prime rib," I reminded him mercilessly.

"You are nothing to me anymore. You are a parasite, and I have officially severed the host."

He tried to lunge forward, but David effortlessly grabbed him by the collar and shoved him backward toward the glass doors.

"If you ever come near me or my son again, I will have you arrested for trespassing and harassment," I warned.

David threw him out onto the pavement, and I turned around and went back to work.

The execution was proceeding flawlessly.
