Chapter 9 - Healing Wounds

The weeks following Paulina’s arrest were a chaotic blur of legal proceedings and media frenzy.
Paulina was facing serious prison time for attempted assault and corporate espionage, effectively ruining her family's social standing forever.
Inside the walls of the Villaseñor mansion, however, a beautiful sense of peace had finally settled.
Marisol had officially moved her few belongings into the massive master suite with Diego.
It took time for her to adjust to being served by the same staff she had once worked alongside.
But Maria and the others treated her with genuine respect, happy to see a kind heart ruling the massive house.
One quiet evening, after Valentina had finally fallen asleep in her new princess-themed bedroom, Diego and Marisol sat on the balcony.
The city lights of Mexico City twinkled beautifully in the distance, casting a soft glow over the gardens.
Diego poured two glasses of expensive red wine and handed one to Marisol.
She took a small sip, smiling softly as the cool evening breeze brushed against her skin.
"My father called my office today," Diego said quietly, breaking the comfortable silence.
Marisol tensed slightly, looking down at her glass.
She knew Diego had completely cut ties with his father after learning about the terrible betrayal three years ago.
"What did he want?" Marisol asked cautiously.
"He wants to meet his granddaughter," Diego replied, a hard, unforgiving edge returning to his voice.
"He said he is sorry, and he wants to make things right for the sake of the family legacy."
Marisol sighed heavily, reaching out to gently place her hand over Diego’s tight fist.
"What are you going to do?" she asked gently.
"I told him that my family is right here in this house," Diego said, turning to look deeply into her eyes.
"I told him that he lost the right to know Valentina the day he tried to erase her existence."
Marisol felt a surge of incredible love for the man sitting beside her.
He had sacrificed his relationship with his own father to protect her and their child.
Diego set his wine glass on the table and slowly stood up, pulling a small velvet box from his jacket pocket.
Marisol gasped, her hands flying up to cover her mouth in sheer shock.
Diego dropped to one knee, looking up at her with a heart full of absolute certainty.
"Three years ago, you walked into my life and completely changed my soul," Diego said softly.
"I lost you once because of lies, but I swear on my life I will never let you go again."
He opened the box, revealing a stunning, elegant diamond ring that was completely different from the flashy one Paulina had worn.
"Marisol, will you marry me?" Diego asked, his voice thick with overwhelming emotion.
Tears of pure joy spilled down Marisol’s cheeks as she nodded rapidly.
May you like
"Yes," she whispered, pulling him up into a passionate, breathtaking kiss.
"Yes, Diego, a thousand times yes."
