Chapter 14 - Judgment

The ballroom emptied rapidly as the terrified guests fled, leaving only Vincenzo, Dr. Thorne, and the Rossi boss standing helplessly in the center of the room, surrounded by my men.
I slowly descended the grand staircase, my footsteps echoing in the dead silence. I didn't rush. I wanted Vincenzo to feel every agonizing second of his impending death.
"Matteo, please," Vincenzo begged, dropping to his knees as I reached the bottom of the stairs. "I’m your brother! We share the same blood! The Rossi family made me do it! They manipulated me!"
I walked past him, stopping directly in front of Dr. Elias Thorne. The doctor was trembling so violently he could barely stand.
"You took an oath to save lives, Doctor," I said, my voice eerily calm. "But you looked me in the eye and told me my son was dying naturally, while you collected millions to help poison him."
"Mr. Bianchi, I was forced—"
I raised my pistol and shot him in the chest. Dr. Thorne collapsed to the floor, gasping for air as his lungs filled with blood, his medical degrees completely useless in the face of my justice.
I turned to Vincenzo. He was sobbing uncontrollably, begging for mercy.
"You killed Elena," I whispered, grabbing him by the lapels of his white suit and hauling him to his feet. "You burned my wife alive. You tried to murder my infant son. You locked a helpless woman in a room to die."
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" he wailed.
"Blood doesn't protect you in this family, Vincenzo," I said coldly. "It condemns you."
I shoved him back onto his knees. I didn't use a bullet for my brother. That was too quick. I drew the heavy, serrated combat knife from my belt. I looked him dead in the eyes, ensuring my face was the last terrifying thing he saw before I drove the blade directly into his heart.
He slumped to the floor, dead before he even fully registered the pain.

I wiped the blade clean on his white suit, turning to Carlo. "Clean up this mess. And tell the Rossi family they have twenty-four hours to leave the country, or I will slaughter every last one of them."
The king was back on his throne.
