Chapter 6 - The Press Conference

The media swarm outside the Vance estate was deafening. Helicopters chopped through the sky, and news vans clogged the exclusive avenue. Eleanor’s tearful narrative had gained traction. Society loved a scandal, and the idea of a deranged, jealous governess ruining a billionaire’s fairy-tale romance was too juicy to ignore.
Julian didn't hide. Instead, he rented out the grand ballroom of a downtown luxury hotel and called a press conference.
He didn't wear a suit. He wore a simple button-down, looking like a tired but determined father. He stood at the podium, a massive screen behind him.
“For the past forty-eight hours, a woman named Eleanor Sterling has peddled a fabricated, malicious story to the press,” Julian began, his voice booming through the microphones. “She claims my former employee, Clara Hayes, is unstable and violent. She claims I was forced into breaking my engagement. Today, I am going to show you the truth.”
Eleanor, sitting in the back row with her PR team, smirked behind her sunglasses, confident she had the upper hand. Julian had no proof. Just the word of a fired maid and three terrified toddlers.
“Miss Sterling forgot one crucial detail when she decided to terrorize my home,” Julian said smoothly. “I am a tech billionaire. And my security systems are absolute.”
He pressed a button. The massive screen lit up.

It was crisp, 4K night-vision footage from a hidden camera in the hallway—one Eleanor hadn't known about. The video played silently but clearly. The entire room watched in stunned silence as Eleanor forcefully dragged the three crying girls down the hall, shoving them into the panic room and slamming the heavy door. They watched her walk into Clara’s room, pull a diamond necklace from her pocket, and stuff it into Clara’s duffel bag.
Flashes went off like strobe lights. The room erupted into chaos.
