Chapter 8 - The Boardroom Coup

The glass-and-steel skyscraper of Cross Enterprises towered over the city skyline. At 9:55 AM, the executive boardroom on the 50th floor was packed with the most powerful shareholders, board members, and legal teams in the country.

Julian stood at the head of the massive mahogany table. My mother sat to his right, wearing a victory smirk that made my stomach turn.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” Julian began, projecting his voice. “We are here to perform a painful but necessary duty. Due to the severe mental decline of my brother, Sebastian, we must vote to permanently transfer executive control—”

The heavy oak doors of the boardroom were kicked open with such force that they slammed against the drywall.

The room went dead silent.

I walked in. I didn't look like a grieving madman. I looked like a king returning to reclaim his throne. Behind me marched four armed federal agents, Rosa Mendez looking terrified but resolute, and Marcus carrying a thick steel briefcase.

“Sebastian!” my mother gasped, standing up so fast her chair tipped over. “Security! How did he get in here?!”

“I built this building, Mother,” I said, my voice echoing off the glass walls. “My security overrides yours.”

“You are trespassing, Sebastian,” Julian snarled, trying to maintain his composure. “You’ve been removed. You kidnapped two children!”

“Did I?” I asked calmly. I signaled Marcus, who opened the steel briefcase and began tossing thick, bound folders onto the table in front of every board member.

“What is this?” an elderly board member asked, adjusting his glasses.

“That is the absolute destruction of the people sitting at the head of this table,” I announced. “Page one: The certified DNA results proving the two girls I supposedly 'kidnapped' are my biological daughters, born to my late wife, Elena.”

Murmurs of shock rippled through the room. Julian’s face lost all color.

“Page three,” I continued, my voice rising in volume and power. “The forged medical records from the Cross Institute, proving my mother and brother orchestrated the systematic poisoning of my wife to prevent her from producing an heir.”

“Lies!” my mother shrieked, pointing a shaking finger at me. “He fabricated all of this! He’s insane!”

“Page ten,” I said, my eyes locking onto Julian’s terrified face. “The signed confession of the head nurse, Rosa Mendez, detailing exactly how much you paid her to traffic my newborn daughters out of the country.”
