Chapter 4 - Chloe’s Fall

Revenge is a dish best served not just cold, but publicly.

Chloe thought she was smart. When Julian was arrested, she immediately tried to distance herself, packing her designer bags and fleeing to a high-end boutique hotel downtown. She assumed that since she was just the mistress, she would escape the financial bloodbath unscathed.

She didn't know I had been tracking her for months.

I sat in my hospital bed, tapping away on my tablet. Chloe was an "influencer," boasting over two million followers on Instagram, curating a lifestyle built entirely on Julian's stolen money. She sold an image of a self-made, independent girlboss.

I was about to show the world who she really was.

I opened an encrypted email file and attached the security camera footage from the hallway of our home—the footage of Julian dragging me by my ankles while Chloe stood in the doorway, sipping my champagne and clapping.

I didn't just send it to the press. I sent it to every single brand that sponsored her, every PR agency that represented her, and posted it directly to a burner Twitter account, tagging the largest celebrity gossip outlets in the country.

Within forty-five minutes, the internet exploded.

My phone buzzed. It was an unknown number, but I knew exactly who it was. I answered it, putting it on speaker.

"You psychotic bitch!" Chloe shrieked, sobbing hysterically. "My agents just dropped me! Sephora canceled my contract! I'm ruined!"

"Hello, Chloe," I said mildly, examining my fingernails.

"Take the video down!" she screamed. "You can't do this to me! I didn't touch you! Julian was the one who hurt you!"

"You stood there and laughed while he dragged a pregnant woman across a hardwood floor," I replied, my voice dropping an octave, turning lethal. "You drank from my crystal. You slept in my bed. You thought I was pathetic."

"Please, Elena, I have no money! Julian’s accounts are frozen, and the hotel is demanding my credit card!"

"Here's a piece of advice, Chloe," I said softly. "Learn to mix your own drinks. I hear the local dive bar is hiring."

I hung up, blocked her number, and watched as her follower count began to plummet in real-time. She was erased from high society in less than an hour.
