Chapter 10 - The Fall of the Manor

Julian kicked open the basement doors, armed with a heavy assault rifle he had stripped from a dead guard. He was bruised, his jaw wildly swollen, but the adrenaline and sheer greed in his eyes made him incredibly dangerous. His mercenaries swarmed the lower level, pushing Dante and the remaining loyalists further up the grand staircase.
"Where is she, Dante?!" Julian screamed over the deafening roar of gunfire. "Where is the baby?! Hand over the brat, and I'll let you walk away!"
"Go to hell, Julian!" Dante roared, returning fire. He fell back toward the hidden door of the study, knowing he had to protect the panic room at all costs.
Mrs. Gable huddled in the dark steel room, clutching Elara tightly to her chest. The infant was crying, terrified by the booming explosions rocking the manor. The elderly housekeeper hummed softly, tears streaming down her face, praying for Silas to arrive.
Outside, the heavy iron gates of Blackwood Manor were suddenly torn entirely off their hinges.
Silas’s armored SUV didn't slow down. It smashed through the courtyard, violently plowing into the mercenaries' parked vehicles. Silas kicked the door open before the truck even stopped moving. He stepped into the pouring rain, armed with twin suppressed tactical pistols, moving with the terrifying efficiency of a reaper.
He didn't seek cover. He didn't hesitate. Silas walked methodically up the front steps, executing the mercenaries holding the perimeter with cold, calculated precision. Two shots each. Center mass. Head. The myth of the soulless syndicate boss was manifesting in real time.
He kicked open the shattered front doors of his own home.

The mercenaries in the foyer turned, aiming their weapons, but Silas was already firing. He moved like a shadow, a devastating force of nature that refused to be stopped. Within sixty seconds, the grand hall was littered with bodies.
Silas looked up the staircase. Julian was standing at the top, staring down at his older brother in absolute horror. The hostile takeover had just failed. The true king had returned.
