Chapter 8 - The Sting Operation

With the hard drive in police custody, the FBI got involved. The data was enough to lock David away for decades, but they wanted the buyers, too.

Detective Miller devised a plan. They would use David's phone—which they had cloned—to set up the final meeting with the foreign contractors. But David, desperate and bruised from my kick, had gone into hiding.

The drop was supposed to happen at an abandoned shipping yard by the docks. The FBI set up a massive sting. I sat in an armored surveillance van with Detective Miller, watching the monitors as the operation unfolded.

To our shock, David actually showed up. He was arrogant enough to think he could bluff his way through the deal without the drive, hoping to grab the money and run.

When the buyers—three men in dark suits—realized David had brought a fake drive, violence erupted. Guns were drawn. But before a shot could be fired, the FBI flooded the area with floodlights and heavily armed tactical teams.

Watching David being slammed onto the concrete, screaming and thrashing, a heavy weight finally lifted off my chest. It was over.
