Chapter 10 - The Perfect Recipe

Six months later, the New York sun shone brightly on the newly renovated facade of 'Romano & Daughter'.

The media storm had been biblical.

Marcus Vance was denied bail, facing life in federal prison for racketeering, conspiracy, and murder.

Preston was in solitary confinement, having turned state's evidence against dozens of corrupt officials in a desperate, failed bid for a lighter sentence.

The Romano Group had been dissolved, the dirty money seized by the government.

But Anthony had kept the original building, the kitchen where he had started it all.

Inside, the restaurant was alive with the beautiful chaos of a Saturday night service.

Plates clattered, pans sizzled, and the smell of roasting garlic and fresh basil filled the air.

Anthony stood at the pass, wiping down the stainless steel counter with a clean towel.

His shoulder still ached from the bullet graze, but his heart had never felt lighter.

He looked over at the pasta station.

Sofia was there, wearing a pristine white chef's coat, expertly tossing a pan of linguine.

She looked up, catching his eye, and smiled. It was a real, bright smile, devoid of the fear that had haunted her for years.

"Order up, Chef!" she called out, sliding a perfectly plated dish onto the pass.

Anthony inspected the plate. It was flawless.

"Looks perfect," he said, handing the plate to a waiter.

He walked around the counter and stood beside his daughter, putting an arm around her shoulders.

"How are you feeling?" he asked softly, amidst the noise of the kitchen.

"I'm feeling like I'm finally home," Sofia answered, leaning her head against his shoulder.

There were no more hidden cameras, no more secrets lurking in the basement, and no more monsters disguised in sharp suits.

There was only the heat of the kitchen, the loyalty of family, and the honest, hard work of making people happy.

Anthony smiled, grabbing a clean spoon to taste the sauce.

It was the best thing he had ever tasted.
