Chapter 7 - The Wrath of Caruso

Dante stood on the blood-soaked concrete of the shipping docks. The Russian forces there had been decimated, but as he interrogated a dying lieutenant, the horrible truth was revealed.
It was a decoy.
Dante’s phone buzzed. It was Silvio, calling from the estate.
"Boss," Silvio’s voice was shaking. "The safe room is breached. The guards are dead. Clara and the boy are gone."
Dante dropped the phone.
A primal, terrifying roar tore from his chest, echoing across the dark water of the harbor. He didn't just feel anger. He felt a soul-crushing terror he hadn't experienced since he was a six-year-old boy watching his mother bleed.
"Silvio!" Dante roared into the radio strapped to his vest. "Ping the GPS tracker in Leo's inhaler case!"
Dante had slipped a micro-tracker into the medical bag just in case.
"Got it," Silvio replied. "They're moving north. Abandoned meatpacking plant on 4th and Industrial."
Dante climbed into his armored SUV. "Call every man in the city. Surround the building. But nobody goes in until I do. Romanov is mine."
The drive to the industrial district was a blur of flashing streetlights and roaring engines. Dante’s mind was laser-focused. Victor had crossed the one line that guaranteed total annihilation.

When Dante's SUV smashed through the chain-link gates of the meatpacking plant, he didn't wait for his backup. He stepped out of the vehicle holding two customized submachine guns.
He didn't sneak in. He walked through the front doors like a god of war.
