Chapter 8 - The Ruin of Victoria Kensington

It took three agonizingly long weeks for Leo Rossi to fully recover from his injuries, but the moment he could stand, his brutal revenge began.
He did not simply kill Judge Kensington; he systematically and entirely destroyed the man’s entire legacy, which to a man of pride, was a fate worse than death.
Leo leaked the black ledger containing decades of Kensington’s bribes, illegal offshore accounts, and mafia ties directly to the most aggressive federal prosecutors in the country.
The news broke on every major television network on a Tuesday morning, painting the respected judge as the most corrupt official in modern Chicago history.
Beatrice sat in the kitchen, feeding Lily a bowl of oatmeal, while the small television on the counter broadcasted the shocking live footage.
Victoria Kensington was shown being led out of her luxurious penthouse in heavy steel handcuffs, completely stripped of her makeup and her arrogant pride.
She looked entirely frantic, screaming at the paparazzi cameras as federal agents practically dragged her into the back of a dark police cruiser.
Her father had been arrested in his own courtroom, his honorable robes stripped from his shoulders as his entire empire crumbled into absolute dust.
Mateo walked into the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of black coffee as he casually watched the news report with a dark, satisfied smirk on his face.
“She tried to use her phone call to contact Leo and beg for his mercy,” Mateo mentioned casually, taking a slow sip of the hot coffee.
Beatrice looked up, her heart skipping a beat at the mention of the woman who had almost murdered the little girl sitting beside her.
“What did Leo say to her?” Beatrice asked quietly, gently wiping a drop of milk from Lily’s chin with a napkin.
“He didn't say a single word,” a deep, familiar voice answered from the doorway.
Leo walked into the bright kitchen, leaning heavily on a wooden cane, dressed in a sharp black suit that made him look incredibly powerful despite his injuries.
He walked slowly across the room, completely ignoring Mateo and the television, focusing entirely on Beatrice and his daughter.
“I hung up the phone the second I heard her pathetic voice, because I have absolutely nothing left to say to people who hurt my family,” Leo stated firmly.
He reached out and gently ruffled Lily’s hair, making the little girl giggle happily, before turning his intense, dark gaze directly onto Beatrice.
“The past is completely erased, and the threats are entirely gone,” Leo told her, his voice softening into a tone he reserved exclusively for her.
“Now, it is time for us to figure out exactly what our future is going to look like,” he added, a clear promise shining brightly in his eyes.

Beatrice felt a warm blush spread across her cheeks, a hopeful smile finally breaking through the heavy shadows of her past.
She was absolutely ready to find out what that beautiful future held.
