Chapter 6 - The Queens Raid

Even with David and Amanda behind bars, Caroline wasn't finished.

She needed to dismantle the nightmare they had built from the root.

An hour later, Caroline stepped out of her black SUV in a gritty neighborhood in Queens.

She looked up at the crumbling brick building labeled 'Sunny Pines Care Center'.

This was the miserable place Amanda had dumped their mother.

Flanked by her lawyers and two private security guards, Caroline walked through the front doors.

The smell of bleach and stale soup hit her instantly, making her stomach turn.

A nervous-looking administrator rushed out of the back office.

"Can I help you?" the man asked, eyeing her expensive clothes with suspicion.

"I am Caroline Sterling," she said, slapping a court order onto his front desk.

"And I am shutting this place down today."

The administrator turned pale. "You can't do that!"

"I just did," Caroline replied, her lawyers already opening filing cabinets.

They found exactly what Margaret had told them about.

Amanda had been paying the facility off the books to keep Margaret heavily medicated and locked inside without a phone.

It was a systematic erasure of a human being.

"You took away my mother's glasses, her dignity, and her freedom," Caroline told the trembling man.

"My legal team is filing a class-action lawsuit on behalf of every patient in this dump."

Within three hours, the state health department arrived to shut the facility down.

Ambulances were called to relocate the elderly patients to proper, high-end medical facilities, fully funded by Caroline's company.

As Caroline walked back to her car, she felt a slight sense of peace.

She had burned Amanda's wicked secret to the ground.
