Chapter 4 - The Corporate Eviction

Just as the loan sharks sped off, leaving Julian hyperventilating in the driveway, a massive black motorcade pulled onto the property.

Three black Mercedes Sprinter vans and a sleek Maybach rolled up, completely blocking Julian’s exit. Out stepped a dozen men in sharp black suits, followed by a terrifyingly elegant French woman with a clipboard. This was Celine, the VP of Operations for Verdant Groupe.

"Excuse me! Who the hell are you people?!" Julian shouted, his voice cracking with panic.

Celine adjusted her designer sunglasses and looked at him like he was dog waste on her shoe. "I am the representative of Verdant Groupe. We are the legal owners of this estate. And who, pray tell, are you?"

"I'm Julian Vance! My sister gave me this farm! I have the deed!" he screamed, waving the worthless paper.

Celine snapped her fingers. Two massive private security guards stepped forward. "Miss Clara Vance completed her transition period yesterday morning. She informed us that trespassers might attempt to occupy the property. You have exactly five minutes to vacate the premises before my security team physically removes you and we press charges for trespassing."

"You can't do this! The lavender is mine!" Julian shrieked, running toward the fields.

"The lavender belongs to Verdant Groupe," Celine said coldly. "Remove him."

The security guards grabbed Julian by his arms. He kicked, screamed, and cried like a toddler as they literally dragged him off the property and tossed him onto the dusty public road. They threw his designer luggage over the fence, right into a muddy ditch.

Julian sat in the mud, staring at the massive iron gates as Verdant Groupe locked them shut. He pulled out his phone with trembling, mud-caked fingers and called our father.

"Dad," Julian sobbed. "Dad, she tricked us. Clara tricked us. The farm is gone, and the loan sharks are coming back tomorrow."
