Chapter 10 - Blooming

Spring arrived in Provence. The fields surrounding the chateau were a vibrant, endless ocean of purple. The air hummed with the sound of bees, and the scent of lavender was so thick and sweet it felt like a physical embrace.

I was walking through the fields, a wide-brimmed straw hat shading my eyes from the warm Mediterranean sun. My phone buzzed in my pocket. It was an email from my wealth manager. The investments I had made with the Verdant payout had yielded massive returns. I was financially secure for the next ten lifetimes.

I stopped in the middle of the field and knelt down, running my fingers over the delicate purple blossoms.

I thought about the girl I used to be. The girl shivering in a dark, rotting shack, desperately hoping her parents would call to say they were proud of her. That girl had been forged in ice and dirt. She had survived betrayal, abandonment, and cruelty.

But looking at the empire I had built with my own two hands, I knew the truth.

The dirt hadn't broken me. It had grounded me. It had given me the foundation to grow stronger, fiercer, and more resilient than the toxic people who tried to tear me down.

I stood up, breathing in the sweet air, completely at peace. Clara Vance was gone forever. I was Clara Horizon now. And my future was breathtakingly beautiful.
