Chapter 13 - The Resurrection

Absolute chaos erupted in the boardroom. Board members leaped out of their chairs, shouting in disbelief. The security guards froze, completely unsure of whether to aim their guns or drop to their knees.
"Put the guns down before you get fired," Arthur commanded, his voice cutting through the panic like a whip. The guards immediately holstered their weapons, stepping back.
Arthur walked slowly into the boardroom. Every step was an agonizing effort, a battle against his own recovering spine, but he masked the pain with pure, unfiltered intimidation. He walked to the head of the table, looking down at the legal documents Julian had been about to sign.
With a flick of his cane, Arthur swept the papers off the table, sending them fluttering to the floor.
"Arthur..." Clara whispered, her face completely drained of blood. She took a step toward him, trying to quickly assemble her mask of the grieving fiancée. "Oh my god... you're alive. Where have you been? We searched everywhere!"
She reached out to touch his arm, but Arthur caught her wrist in a vice-like grip.
"Save the performance, Clara," Arthur said coldly, dropping her hand as if it disgusted him. "I know exactly where you've been while I was 'missing.' Mostly in Julian's bed."
The board members gasped.
Julian scrambled to his feet, his face red with panic. "He's delusional! The crash caused brain damage! Security, remove this man, he needs medical attention!"

Arthur didn't move. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black remote. He pointed it at the dark screens on the wall and pressed a button.
"Let's see just how delusional I am," Arthur said.
