Chapter 11 - The Empty Coffin

The grand lobby of the Sterling Global Tower was draped in black velvet. Hundreds of reporters, politicians, and corporate elites gathered for the highly publicized memorial service of Arthur Sterling.

At the front of the room, a massive portrait of Arthur was surrounded by thousands of white lilies. An empty mahogany casket rested beneath it, a symbol of the body that was "never recovered."

Julian stood at the podium, dressed in a bespoke black suit, wiping a perfectly timed, fake tear from his eye. Clara sat in the front row, looking like a tragic, beautiful widow, holding a lace handkerchief.

"Arthur was more than a brother to me," Julian spoke into the microphone, his voice echoing through the silent lobby. "He was a visionary. A titan. And a protector. His tragic accident in those mountains left a void that can never be filled. But we must honor his legacy by moving forward."

The cameras flashed, capturing the heartbreaking performance.

"Today, as I accept the mantle of CEO, I promise to lead Sterling Global with the same integrity and passion that Arthur did," Julian concluded.

The crowd broke into solemn applause. Julian stepped down, embracing Clara, whispering in her ear.

"We did it. It's over."

Clara smiled against his shoulder. "Everything is ours."

They moved toward the private elevators, flanked by their security details, heading up to the 43rd-floor boardroom to sign the final transfer documents.

They did not notice the heavy-set security guard standing by the service elevator, wearing a low-pulled cap.

The guard tapped his earpiece. "The targets are heading to the boardroom, Boss. The stage is set."

Down in the underground parking garage, sitting in the back of a heavily armored SUV, Arthur Sterling buttoned his tailored suit jacket. He grabbed a sleek, silver cane, his eyes burning with vengeance.

"Let's crash a funeral," Arthur said.
