Chapter 7 - The Confrontation at Vance Enterprises

By Friday—exactly one week after the kitchen confrontation—desperation had driven Beatrice and Clara to abandon all protocol. At 2:00 PM, while Julian was hosting a high-level software demonstration for visiting Tokyo executives in the glass-walled boardroom of Vance Enterprises, the double doors of the executive suite were violently shoved open.

Beatrice strode into the room, bypassing the frantic receptionist, with Clara trailing behind her like a thunderstorm. Beatrice was gripping a stack of printed financial statements, her hair slightly disheveled, the veneer of Seattle royalty completely shattered.

"Julian!" Beatrice shouted, ignoring the five stunned Japanese executives sitting around the mahogany table. "We received a letter from your attorney this morning! A formal cease-and-desist? You are legally banning us from contacting our own family?!"

Julian did not flinch. He slowly set down his laser pointer, turned to the visiting executives, and bowed his head slightly. "Gentlemen, I apologize for this unscheduled interruption. Please enjoy the refreshments while my VP of Engineering guides you through the final architecture slides in the adjacent breakout room."

Once the executives had quietly filed out, escorted by his team, Julian turned to face his mother and sister. The glass doors closed, sealing the three of them inside the soundproof boardroom.

"You have trespassed into a secure corporate facility," Julian said, walking toward the head of the table. "You have thirty seconds to explain why I shouldn't have campus security escort you out in handcuffs."

"You left us with nothing!" Clara screamed, slamming her palms against the polished wood table. "I had to return my car! We’re staying in a cramped three-bedroom apartment in Bellevue! My friends are laughing at me, Julian! Everyone knows you cut us off!"

"You cut yourselves off," Julian replied coldly. He reached into his briefcase and pulled out a thick, bound leather folder, tossing it across the table. It slid to a halt directly in front of Beatrice.

"What is this?" Beatrice demanded, glaring at the folder.

"That is an itemized forensic accounting of the last six years," Julian said. "It details four hundred and eighty thousand dollars in personal luxuries, vacations, and shopping sprees I paid for. Behind that tab is a flash drive containing fifty-two hours of interior security camera footage from the estate kitchen and laundry rooms, documenting systematic verbal abuse, harassment, and forced domestic labor inflicted upon my pregnant wife."

Beatrice stepped back, her face draining of color as she stared at the leather folder as if it were a venomous snake.

"If either of you ever step foot in my office, approach my estate, or mention Elena’s name in public again," Julian said, his voice dropping to a dangerous, icy whisper, "I will release that footage to every country club, every boutique, and every media outlet in the Pacific Northwest. I will make sure everyone in Seattle knows exactly what kind of monsters were hiding behind my last name."
