Chapter 5 - The Rookie's Reality

As they sat down at the massive mahogany dining table, Alexander opened a heavily encrypted tablet.
"I ran a rapid background check on you while we were in the elevator," the billionaire stated matter-of-factly.
Jack felt a sudden, sharp spike of anxiety, knowing his financial history was an absolute, tragic mess.
"You have been working incredibly long double shifts just to pay for your younger sister's expensive leukemia treatments," Alexander noted.
Jack lowered his eyes, feeling a deep wave of protective shame wash over him.
"She is absolutely everything to me, sir," Jack whispered, his voice cracking with heavy, raw emotion.
Elias reached across the table and gently patted Jack's trembling hand with genuine, fatherly affection.
"A man who fights fiercely for his family is the exact kind of man I want guarding my legacy," the old man said firmly.
Alexander completely agreed, his sharp mind already rapidly calculating his next monumental move.
"Effective immediately, all of your sister's medical debts are entirely paid in full by the Vanguard Foundation," Alexander announced casually.
Jack’s head violently snapped up, completely unable to process the life-changing, massive words he had just heard.
"Furthermore, she will be instantly transferred to our elite private research facility in Switzerland for the best care on the planet."
Tears freely streamed down Jack's face, heavily staining his cheap security collar as he openly wept in pure gratitude.
He continuously tried to verbally thank the billionaire, but the overwhelming emotion completely stole his voice.

"You do not owe me any thanks, Jack," Alexander said smoothly, setting down his heavy silver fork.
"You earned this the very second you stepped in front of that vicious, entitled woman."
